This course presents an introduction to optical-based satellite tracking. An overview of telescope and digital camera technology will be presented followed by a summary of radiometric principles of satellites tracking. Real-world tracking examples from Pine Park Observatory will be explored including search techniques to locate lost satellites and newly launched satellites. This three-hour course is designed for those who want to gain a basic understanding of the physics and engineering behind satellite tracking with optical sensors.
