Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation Wins OEDIT Grant to advance technologies for Space Systems Command
Colorado Springs, CO – June 24, 2024 Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation (CCTI) has been awarded a grant from the Office of Economic Development and International Trade in partnership with the Space Domain Awareness Tools, Applications, and Processing (SDA TAP) Lab to drive acceleration, foster innovation, and increase collaboration in the aerospace and defense sector.
The 2-year grant, which will develop company readiness for participation in the SDA TAP Lab’s Project Apollo, includes a series of initiatives such as mini accelerators. Catalyst Campus and the SDA TAP Lab will collaborate closely to drive technological advancements and integrate new solutions into national security strategies.
Dawn Conley, Senior Executive Director of Catalyst Campus, expressed her enthusiasm for the project: “This grant recognizes the potential of our unique ecosystem to significantly enhance space domain awareness and security. This opportunity aligns with our mission to propel technological innovation and is in close partnership with the SDA TAP lab to drive innovation in the aerospace industry.”
Major Sean Allen, Chief of the SDA TAP Lab, also commented on the collaboration: “Time is of the essence. This grant marks a pivotal moment for the SDA TAP Lab. Working alongside Catalyst Campus, we will accelerate the delivery of groundbreaking space battle management solutions to the National Space Defense Center (NSDC). We are committed to leveraging this partnership to its fullest potential, bringing together the best in technology, minds, and resources.”Allen continued by stating: “This grant demonstrates our shared commitment to national security, and highlights that partnerships are essential to deterrence and winning in conflict.
In the upcoming months, Catalyst Campus and the SDA TAP Lab will engage in intensive technology scouting, problem statement curation, and running focused accelerators that will feed into the Project Apollo cohorts. These efforts are designed to cultivate technologies that can swiftly be transitioned into operational use, thereby enhancing the United States’ capabilities in space domain awareness and defense.
